The Department of Pediatric Surgery at Children Hospital Faisalabad was established in 2016 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Muhammad Bilal Mirza. The department initially commenced outpatient services and gradually expanded to include day-care surgical procedures such as circumcision, cyst excision, and hernia repair. By 2017, the department had become fully functional, providing a comprehensive range of major pediatric and neonatal surgical services, including complex tumor surgeries. Subsequently, the department was further strengthened and formally accredited for FCPS and MS training programs under the leadership of Prof. Sarfraz Ahmed and Prof. Afzal Mirza, marking a significant milestone in postgraduate surgical education in the region. Currently, the department is headed by Professor Dr. Muhammad Bilal Mirza, whose strong commitment to postgraduate training, academic excellence, and research has contributed to the continued growth and advancement of the department. The department is supported by a highly skilled and dedicated faculty comprising Associate Professors Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Kamran and Dr. Hamza Sohail; Assistant Professors Dr. Sadaqat Ali and Dr. Tahir Nawaz; and Senior Registrars Dr. Javaid Iqbal and Dr. Anum Manzoor. The department has a total capacity of 60 beds, including 7 beds in the Surgical Emergency Room and 20 beds dedicated to neonatal surgical care, ensuring comprehensive inpatient services for children with surgical conditions.

The department offers accredited FCPS and MS Pediatric Surgery residency programs. Currently, approximately 15–20 postgraduate trainees are enrolled at various stages of training. The program emphasizes structured clinical exposure, hands-on surgical experience, academic learning, and research participation. The department plays a vital role in producing competent pediatric surgeons who contribute to improved surgical care for children and the sustainability of pediatric surgical services.
• Elective Operating Lists: Three per week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday), with access to two fully equipped operating theaters.
• Outpatient Clinics: Conducted three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) in Rooms 141 and 142, under direct consultant supervision, including Professor Dr. Muhammad Bilal Mirza.
• Emergency Services: Available 24/7 throughout the week.
• To provide high-quality surgical training to FCPS and MS Pediatric Surgery trainees through structured hands-on experience, academic instruction, and active research involvement.
• To deliver comprehensive and compassionate patient care across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and ward services, with emphasis on safety, efficiency, and excellence.
• To ensure optimal management of pediatric surgical emergencies, including trauma and acute surgical conditions.
